Google employees shared an excellent metaphor about the importance of work life balance to organizations. They said many organizations treat employees like a knife that they grind and use relentlessly until it goes dull. Then they throw out the knife. On the other hand, it is a better strategy to allow work life balance for employees, which leads to sharpening the knife, rather than grinding it until it's useless.
